Little Red Riding Hood
is a stunning take on the classic tale. The story is one you probably are already familiar with– Little Red Riding Hood’s mother warns her to go straight to Granny’s, but when she meets a handsome gray wolf along the way, she doesn’t see the harm in stopping for a chat. The book features the familiar refrain: “What big eyes you have, Granny!”
What makes this book unique are the illustrations. I love the subtle color palate with little pops of color mixed in. Plus, the somewhat whimsical style is simply beautiful. The pages are filled with little details that make every page truly shine.
The book comes with a CD that features a narration of the book. The narration is very well done, and sounds quite professional. This is a great asset to use in the car, in a listening center, or anytime your child would like to have a story read aloud to them.
The Kite Princess
is a beautiful story about Princess Cinnamon Stitch. Princess Cinnamon Stitch is a tomboy who has no interest in courtly life. She’d rather cartwheel through puddles and dance with alley cats. Can she show the king and queen that there’s more to life than being pretty and good?
This story is such a sweet story. Often times, we can get so busy and caught up in life that we forget to have fun. I’m guilty of this myself. I can easily get caught up with writing here and all the work that needs to be done around my home that I don’t take time to sit down and color or play with my daughter. That’s what is really important, though, and The Kite Princess is a gentle reminder to take time for these things.
The book comes with instructions to make your own kite– a perfect activity for taking a little time away from all those things we need to do. It also comes along with a fully narrated story CD for you to enjoy.
